Big blow to Congress: Tajinder Bittu resigns, set to join BJP

Amid the ongoing Lok Sabha elections 2024, the Congress party has received another big blow.

The senior leader of the party in Punjab, National Secretary of the party and co-in-charge of Himachal Congress Tajinder Singh Bittu has resigned from the primary membership of the party.

He has sent his resignation to the party president Mallikarjun Kharge. Bittu served Congress as President of District Congress Jalandhar Urban, Chairman of Jalandhar Improvement Trust, State General Secretary of the party and member of All India Congress Committee and then National Secretary. He also served as Chairman of PUNSUP. He contested 2007 Vidhan Sabha election from Jalandhar Central constituency but could not make it to the Assembly.

Bittu was considered close to the party’s National General Secretary Mrs. Priyanka Gandhi Vadra.

In his two-line resignation, Bittu said that he was resigning from the primary membership of the Congress and as the party’s national secretary and co-in-charge of Himachal Pradesh.
