Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) president Bibi Jagir Kaur expressed grief over the demise of Dr Arjinderpal Singh Sekhon, the first Sikh colonel in the US Army. She said that S. Sekhon was the first Indian Sikh doctor to reach the rank of colonel in the US Army, who served for about 25 years.
Bibi Jagir Kaur said that with the departure of such a personality from the world where the Sikh community has suffered a great loss, it is also a sad time for Sekhon’s family. She said that death is an inescapable fact. Every human being has to leave the world after completing the capital of God-given breaths. Bibi Jagir Kaur called on S. Sekhon’s family, prayed for peace of mind of the departed soul.
Meanwhile, Bibi Jagir Kaur also expressed deep sorrow over the demise of renowned hockey player Balbir Singh Junior. Expressing sympathy with the family, she said that S. Balbir Singh’s contribution to the field of hockey can never be forgotten. She prayed that God would make the departed soul dwell at His feet.
SGPC senior vice-president S. Surjit Singh Bhitewad, general secretary Adv Bhagwant Singh Sialka, chief secretary Adv S. Harjinder Singh also expressed their heartfelt condolences to the bereaved families.
