During the one-day session of the Punjab Vidhan Sabha, the main opposition AamAadmi Party (AAP) launched a four-pronged attack on the Amarinder Singh government as well as the SAD-BJP inside and outside the House.
The AAP MLAs alleged that while the government and the Speaker made every possible effort to to embarrass and keep main opposition (AAP) out of the House, on the other hand it let the Akali Dal (Badal),which has adopted a double standard on Union Government’s anti-agriculture ordinances and the Central Power Amendment Bill 2020 , escape through ‘narrow The Akali Dal (Badal), which had a double standard, was given a chance to slip through the ‘narrow gully’ and saved them from embarrassment in the House.
The AAP first launched its attack when the government deployed a large contingent of police at the official residence of Leader of the Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema.
The presence of media invited by Cheema eased the police siege and Cheema, Deputy Leader of Opposition Sarabjit Kaur Manunke, Aman Arora, Meet Hair, Jai Singh Rori and Master Baldev Singh managed to reachthe entrance of Punjab Vidhan Sabha wearing PPE kits where they were stopped after which they staged a sit-in at the gate itself. Only Kultar Singh Sandhwan and Prof. Baljinder Kaur was allowed to enter the house.
After much deliberation, Aman Arora, Jai Singh Rori and Master Baldev Singh were allowed to enter but Cheema, Manunke and Hayer were not allowed entrance despite showing their Corona Test Negative and the latest invitation from the Business Advisory Committee (BAC). After which Bibi Manunke and Meet Hair under the leadership of Harpal Singh Cheema sporting PPE kits sat on dharna outside the Punjab Bhawan,till their colleague MLAs joined them after finishing the session. Meanwhile, the party’s state president and MP Bhagwant Mann and Punjab in-charge Jarnail Singh (MLA) also reached Chandigarh and joined the dharna staged by AAP MLAs against the government. While raising slogans against the government, Bhagwant Mann, Harpal Singh Cheema, Jarnail Singh and all the other MLAs slammed the Punjab Government, Union Government and the Badals and labelled them as the murderers of democracy.
