Bhagwant Mann demands HC probe into ‘open loot’ of state by Punjab Politicians & Babus

Chandigarh, May 12, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Expressing deep concern over the way government in Punjab was being run, Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state President and Member of Parliament (MP) Bhagwant Mann said: “The Congress government of the state is running like a ‘mohalla’ cricket team, which has no ‘captain’.

The one who holds the bat holds sway over the rest of the team, finally slipping away surreptitiously with the bat when finds himself cornered. Similarly, it cannot be said for sure who among the ministers and bureaucrats holds the bat in the absence of Capt. Amarinder Singh? The people of Punjab had been witness to such stage-managed dramas enacted to befool each other as also the people.

In a statement issued from party headquarters on Tuesday, Bhagwant Mann alleged that Chief Minister Capt. Amarinder Singh, who was acting like a mute spectator in this hour of crisis looming large on the state leadership, should disclose his present location where he was sitting pretty?

Mann said that, like the Badals, under the misrule of Capt. Amarinder Singh, all kinds of mafias were indulging in an open ‘loot’ of the people of the state. He said, being the principal Opposition, the Aam Aadmi Party had been raising its voice against all sorts of mafias active in the state in connivance with politicians and bureaucrats.

Taking a swipe at the ministers, the AAP leader said “I wonder at the ministers’ new-found deep concern over the rampant ‘loot’ of Punjab now when the present crisis came to the fore, asking why they were maintaining a stoic silence when billions of rupees were being swindled away from the government exchequer by the sand, gravel, transport, land mafias, etc?

Mann said why these minister, who were now raising their voices against the ‘plunder’, spoke about the senior officials whose names had prominently figured in the irrigation scam, saying why didn’t they speak about the ‘loot’ by power mafia, which was bigger than that of liquor mafia and took a united stand on this biggest ‘loot’ in the state, raising questions of propriety.

Mann said that it was now an acid test for the Congress MLAs and Ministers, who were raising their voices against the plunder of Punjab, albeit late, to prove whether or not they stood for the interests of Punjab and Punjabis or stick to their ministerial berths after grabbing newspaper headlines for a while?

Expressing his concern over the sorry state of affairs, the AAP MP said that the new crisis that had shaped up in Punjab amid the Corona epidemic, would prove to be a blunder, financially speaking.
