Punjab CM designate Bhagwant Mann has appointed senior and seasoned Advocate Dr Anmol Rattan Singh Sidhu as Advocate General of Punjab.
However, a formal letter and notification in this respect are yet to be issued.
Sidhu, a prominent High Court Advocate has served as Assistant Solicitor General of India, Additional Advocate General of Haryana and Deputy dvocate General of Punjab.
He was 7 times elected as President of Punjab & Haryana High Court Bar Association. He has also remained Chairman of Punjab & Haryana Bar Council.
He also served as Dean, Faculty of Law, Panjab University, Chandigarh.
Sidhu replaces DS Patwalia, who recently resigned as AG after Charanjit Singh Channi-led Congress government, which had appointed Patwalia, was defeated in Vidhan Sabha Elections.
Atul Nanda remained AG during Capt Amarinder’s regime and Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi appointed APS Deol as AG but the appointment was vehemently opposed by Navjot Singh Sidhu. Channi ultimately replaced Deol with DS Patwalia, said to be the choice of Sidhu.
