Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab senior leader and Leader of Opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA Aman Arora, terming the SAD supremo Sukhbir Badal’s call to lay siege to the CM’s residence if he (CM) failed to convene a special Vidhan Sabha session within seven days as a mere drama, said it was a ploy to mislead, besides the farmers, farm and mandi labourers and ‘arhtiyas’, who would be rendered jobless.
They said the Badal-Captain duo was responsible for ruining Punjab and its farmers and other sections of the society by resorting to petty vote bank politics under a deep-rooted conspiracy.
In a joint statement from party headquarters in Chandigarh on Tuesday, Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Badal clan was resorting to such political theatrics to regain the lost political ground in the state, which was a wishful idea as the people, especially the farmers of Punjab, were well aware of their nefarious designs.
Cheema said that the Badal family had always given top priority to its personal interests rather than to the concerns of the farmers, dalits and traders and other sections of the state.
The LoP said that both SAD and the ruling Congress party had been doing their best to sabotage the struggle of the farmers, adding that, despite enacting such sham dramas to achieve their ‘mission’, the farming community Punjab stood united, leaving the so-calling champions of the farmers with no obvious option but to indulging in a slugfest, trading charges at each other.
Cheema said that the Modi-led NDA government at the centre wanted to shoehorn the big private companies, like the Ambanis-and Adanis into the state to take over the farms and ‘mandis’ of Punjab and Haryana by bringing in three deadly ordinances in a dictatorial manner by stifling the dissenting voices of the beleaguered community.
He was assertive in saying that the day the corporate houses entered Punjab, the Minimum Support Price (MSP) for wheat and paddy, maize, sugarcane and pulses would be rendered redundant and the farmers would be left to fend for themselves.
Sunam MLA of the party Aman Arora on the occasion said the SAD was still acting as a mere puppet in the hands of the BJP as Sukhbir Badal uttered not even a single word against Modi or the BJP in the rallies staged in Punjab, which proved that the alliance between the Badals and the BJP was still intact.
Arora said that Capt. Amarinder Singh and Sukhbir Badal were defending Narendra Modi by resorting to issuing misleading statements against each other, adding that both the parties wanted the anti-farmer black laws to be enforced in Punjab under a deep conspiracy of the Captain-Badal-Modi trio.
