Atwal urges PM to take steps to bring back 600 Punjabi workers stranded in Kuwait

Chandigarh, June 10, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Former Lok Sabha Deputy Speaker Dr Charanjit Singh Atwal today urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to take necessary steps to bring back six hundred Punjabi workers stranded in Kuwait after their employers took possession of their passports.

In a letter to the Prime Minister, Dr Charanjit Atwal said all the six hundred Punjabis were working for a private firm by the name of KGL based in Pharmania. He said the workers were in a miserable condition because they were not being paid salaries and could not exit their workplace because their passports were in the possession of the company management.

He said he had received representations from the relatives of the workers who were demanding that their next of kin be repatriated to Punjab.

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) leader urged the Prime Minister to direct concerned authorities including the Indian Embassy in Kuwait to take steps to ensure the well being of the stranded workers besides ensuring their safe return to Punjab.
