Attack on Sikh Sangat by SGPC Task Force is highly reprehensible and shameful act: Randhawa

Amritsar, 15 September, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Punjab Cabinet Minister and Senior Congress Leader S. Sukhjinder Singh Randhawa has strongly condemned the violent attack and abusive remarks made by the SGPC Task Force on the Sikh Sangat at Amritsar. The Sikh Sangat was protesting peacefully demanding accurate information about the missing sacred Birs of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and strict action against the culprits.

S. Randhawa has demanded an answer from SGPC President Bhai Gobind Singh Longowal for this heinous act and besides whose pressure made him incite the task force to target the Sikh community.

In a press communiqué, S. Randhawa termed this act as a heart-wrenching and unforgivable sin committed upon the innocent Sikhs. He said that the task force had even targeted the fourth pillar of democracy i.e. the media persons which cannot simply be tolerated.

He further said that with this action, the Badals have earned another black spot. Even before this incident, the sacrilege of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and firing incidents on the Sikh Sangat, who was protesting in peaceful manner, took place during the Badal’s regime. He said that it seemed that the Badals had not learnt any lesson from the past.

Referring to these incidents, S. Randhawa said that the Sikh community would never forgive the Badals who now stand in the same league as Nadir Shah and Ahmed Shah Abdali. The Congress leader averred that the panthic face of Akali Dal has now been completely exposed and just as they were earlier ousted from the state, now the Sikh Sangat is ready to oust them from the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee which came into being through untold number of sacrifices.
