Attack on Delhi Gurdwara Elections Director Narinder Singh highly condemnable: Inder Mohan Singh

Mr Inder Mohan Singh, an expert in the Delhi Gurdwara Affairs said that the recent grievous attack on Delhi Gurdwara Director Mr. Narinder Singh by the Delhi Gurdwara Committee members and supporters of Badal Akali Dal is highly condemnable.

Giving details on this episode, he said that immediately after the postponement of meeting of Co-option yesterday, some members and supporters of Badal Akali Dal shouted slogan using derogatory language and created ruckus.

The situation took an ugly turn when Badal dal member Atma Singh Lubana threw shoe on the Gurdwara Director Mr. Narinder Singh with the intention to cause grievous hurt to him while Mr. Singh was sitting in his official car under the police protection.

He said that as per available information, the Director has lodged an F.I.R. on September 9, 2021 bearing no. 0263/2021 under Section 188/353/506/188/34 in Police Station I.P.Estate in which DSGMC President Manjinder Singh Sirsa, General Secretary Harmeet Singh Kalka, shoe throwing member Atma Singh Lubana, newly elected members Bhupinder Singh Ginny, Ramandip Singh Thapar and others have been mentioned as accused.

Mr Inder Mohan Singh said that there is a provision of 5 years rigorous imprisonment related to the non-bailable offences mentioned in the F.I.R. for interrupting the official duty of a government officer and for bodily attacking and hurting him. He said that under the Gurdwara rules, the membership of such members can also be cancelled.

He said that such unlawful acts of the culprits representatives of a religious body has bowed down the heads of the Sikh community and the integrity of the culprits has also come under shadow, whereas any objection against the decision of Director could have been legally sorted out.
