The action taken by the Mann government to stop the public welfare camps being organized by the Bharatiya Janata Party in Punjab has further energized the BJP.
While addressing a press conference here today, the Working State President Ashwani Sharma said that today BJP workers and leaders were arrested at a total of 28 places and at 8 places police took away camp materials including laptops etc.
Punjab Police arrested former minister Perneet Kaur from Patiala, Manpreet Badal from Gidderbaha, former minister Surjit Jiyani from Fazilka, K.D. Bhandari and Sushil Rinku from Jalandhar, district president of Ludhiana Rural Sunny Kaith, Jiwan Gupta, Harjot Kamal from Moga, Seema Devi from Gurdaspur, State President of SC Morcha S.R. Ladhar and many other BJP leaders and workers from different places.
The BJP has alleged that these arrests are being made only to deprive people of the benefits of central government schemes.

Condemning the arrests, Ashwani Sharma said that the Mann government is making a failed attempt to suppress the rights of the people. He made it clear that the BJP will in no circumstances stop organizing these public welfare camps.
He said, “Our mission is to deliver the benefits of central government schemes to the people. The Mann government cannot break our courage with the power of police.”
“BJP will not bow down to arrests”
Sharma declared that no matter how many arrests are made, BJP’s camps will continue. He said it is the party’s duty to make people aware of facilities like Ayushman Card, farmer assistance, housing schemes, scholarships, and social security schemes.
Warning the Mann government, he said this dictatorial attitude will cost it dearly in the forthcoming coming elections.

While interacting with the media, Sharma made it clear that the BJP will not allow the interests of the people to be played with. He said that the arrested leaders are high in spirits and the party will unitedly continue its fight for public welfare.

Ashwani Sharma announced that on August 24, BJP will hold public welfare camps across Punjab.
