An Indian Army helicopter crashed Tuesday morning while on a routine flight.
The helicopter was flying above the lake of Ranjit Sagar Dam when it presumably developed a snag and crashed into the lake.
Army sources said the two pilots on board ALH Druv helicopter were safe.
The helicopter had taken off from Pathankot in Punjab Tuesday Morning at about 10.20 AM and crashed into the Ranjit Sagar Dam lake. The part of the lake where the helicopter crashed is said to be Basholi in Kathua district in Jammu and Kashmir.
Surendra Lamba, SSP Pathankot, said that rescue operations were on.
Defence sources said, “Both the pilots are safe. The weapon system integrated helicopter had taken off from Pathankot and met with an accident during a routine sortie.”
