Arms supplier, accomplice held in separate raids

New Delhi, June 19, 2019-

Delhi Police on Wednesday arrested a notorious arms supplier along with his accomplice and recovered one semi-automatic pistol, three countrymade pistols and 30 live cartridges from their possession, which were meant to be supplied to criminals in south Delhi, the police said.

The accused, identified as Mhd Parvez (42) and his accomplice Mhd Iqbaal (52), were arrested from south Delhi and Uttar Pradesh in separate raids conducted by the police.

“A team headed by Inspector P.K. Jha, Sub Inspector Rahul Malan and constable Irshad arrested Mhd Parvez in the early hours of Wednesday following a tip-off after he came on a bike to supply illegal arms to criminals in Chitranjan Park area in south Delhi,” Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Vijay Kumar said.

“Based on the information given by Parvez, his accomplice Mhd Iqbal, who manufactured the illegal arms, was arrested from his residence in Uttar Pradesh,” Kumar added.

During interrogation, Parvez, a resident of Jasola area, admitted that he supplied illegal arms to gangs and local criminals in the capital after obtaining the weapons from Iqbal, Kumar said.  (Agency)
