Amritsar MP Gurjit Aujla sheltering relatives involved in bomb blasts: Majithia demands CBI inquiry

Amritsar, September 26, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) today said Amritsar mp Gurjit Aujla’s relatives were involved in bomb blasts and he was giving political shelter to them which was condemnable and would spoil the atmosphere of the State as well as endanger communal harmony.

Addressing a press conference here SAD leaders led by former minister Mr Bikram Singh Majithia demanded a CBI inquiry into the various bomb blasts which had occurred in the State including the bomb blast which occurred in Tarn Taran in January this year which was suppressed at the instance of the Amritsar mp.

He said had the Amritsar mp misused his position to brow beat the police and save his relative Gurjant Singh in January when the latter exploded a bomb during the panchayat elections in Kaddgill village. He said if Aujla had desisted from doing this the subsequent Pak based attempts to infiltrate arms into Punjab would not have succeeded.

Giving details, the former minister said Gurjant Singh, who was a relative of the Amritsar mp, had been injured in the Tarn Taran blast this month and was part of a terror group which was working at the behest of Pakistan.

He said Gurjant and two others – Amritpal and Harjit, who were involved in the Tarn Taran blast, had also been involved in exploding a similar device at Kaddgill village during the panchayat elections in January.

He said Gurjit Aujla put pressure on the police and they were not booked under the Explosive Act in January. “The same persons went on to indulge in anti-national activities due to shelter provided to them by the Amritsar mp”, he added.

Asserting that since chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh always projected himself as a staunch nationalist, he should take immediate action against the Amritsar mp for sheltering anti-national elements.

He said Aujla should be asked to explain about his role in supporting another close relative Gurbhej Singh who was also in league with Gurjant. “Congress President Sonia Gandhi should also tell why Congressmen are being allowed to spoil the atmosphere of the State as they had done earlier also in the eightees which led to the advent of terrorism. It seems the Congress is again resorting to the same activities because it was failed to ensure any development or investment in the State”

Mr Majithia said repeated incidents of bomb blasts including the Maqsudan and Raja Sansi blasts, had created a fear psychosis in the State and the recent incident of dropping of arms and ammunition through drones had made it clear that Pakistan was hell bent on reviving terrorism in Punjab.

He said in such a situation, the manner in which a MP was misusing his position to shelter relatives engaged in anti-national activities was shocking and should be checked immediately.

Other leaders including former chief parliamentary secretaries Virsa Singh Valtoha and Harmeet Singh Sandhu gave details about how Congress leaders were encouraging goondaism and terrorism.

It was also pointed out that the brother of militant Narayan Singh Chaura had been made Block Samiti Chairman by Minister Sukhjinder Randhawa. Youth leader Ravikaran Kahlon was also present on the occasion.
