MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla met Union Road Transport Minister Nitin Gadkari. Many important issues related to the development of the Golden Temple area of Amritsar were discussed in the meeting.
Giving information after the meeting, MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that he raised the issue of parking and widening of roads in the Golden Temple area. Also talked about the plan of ropeway and mini capsule for the convenience of tourists. Apart from this, proposed the development of modern sewage and rain water system.
He said that lakhs of devotees come to the Golden Temple for darshan every day. But the infrastructure here is old. Giving an example, MP Aujla said that a plan for change should be made here also on the lines of the development model of Varanasi. This will provide better facilities to the visiting devotees and the standard of living of the local people will also improve.
He said that the protection of heritage should also be taken care of in the development works. For this, the help of world class architects and archaeology department should be taken.
MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla said that Amritsar is a tourist city and the center of faith Sri Harimandir Sahib is present here where lakhs of devotees come and visit other places as well. He said that at present Amritsar is fully capable of reaching by rail, air and road but the inner part of the city needs better facilities and modernization for which he has put forward proposals before the Union Minister and he is happy that Union Minister Gadkari has given a positive response to these proposals. MP Aujla said that he is committed to the all-round development of Amritsar and wants to make Guru Nagri the best city.
