Ranjit Avenue, considered one of the most beautiful and well-planned areas of Sri Amritsar Sahib, is today buried under piles of garbage. Expressing strong displeasure over this situation, Amritsar MP Gurjeet Singh Aujla lashed out at the Municipal Corporation and the administration, saying that their negligence and corruption have not only ruined the city’s beauty but have also put the health of residents at serious risk.
MP Aujla visited the protest organized by the residents of Ranjit Avenue, who were demanding the removal of garbage dumps from the locality. He extended his full support to the people and observed how the heaps of garbage have created severe health hazards for school children, the elderly, and local residents.
Aujla stated that he has raised this issue multiple times in DISHA and other administrative meetings, but unfortunately, no official from the Corporation has taken any concrete action so far.
He demanded that the garbage piles across Ranjit Avenue and the entire city of Amritsar be cleared immediately, and that strict measures be implemented to make the city clean and healthy again.
The MP further said that the Municipal Corporation and Improvement Trust are completely mired in corruption, due to which citizens are suffering daily.
Aujla warned that if the authorities fail to act soon, a massive public movement will be launched against the Corporation.
