Amid Coronavirus Crisis Partap Bajwa has some suggestions for Capt Amarinder

Chandigarh, March 28, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Partap Singh Bajwa, MP, Rajya Sabha, has written a letter to the Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh detailing steps that the Government could take to rescue the industry and trade in the State.

Considering the conditions of the economy due to COVID-19, Bajwa wrote that industry and trade not only within the State but also both nationally and globally is on the verge of closure.

Since, these sectors have been badly affected, the MP requested that all fixed minimum charges be waived from the electricity bills of all industrial and trade sector units. He requested that offices/factories should only pay the actual bills due during the lockdown periods and nothing more.

Mr. Bajwa also requested the State Government to delay the payment due of any State Tax i.e. property tax, water and sewage tax, excise duty etc, till June 2020. He further suggested that the GST Department be ordered to release any pending refunds without further delay.

The MP further wrote that the Government should delay the starting date of the supply of materials in all Government Tenders to June 2020, given the lockdown that has been in place due to COVID-19.

Lastly, he requested that all Government hearings of cases should also be delayed. Mr. Bajwa suggested these steps as measures that could ensure the survival of traders and industry in Punjab.
