Amarinder’s support to separate gurudwara body for Haryana has gone against interests of Sikh Panth: Sukhbir Badal

Chandigarh, January 31, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD) President Sukhbir Singh Badal today condemned chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for working against the interests of the Sikh Panth and Punjab by submitting an affidavit stating the Haryana Vidhan Sabha had the right to establish an independent gurdwara body.

In a statement here, the SAD President said it was strange that the chief minister was betraying the interests of his own State by changing the State’s stance on the issue purely for political reasons. “The chief minister must know that the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) is an inter state corporate body and only parliament can take a decision on any changes to its present set up”.

He said despite this the chief minister had tried to play politics on this sensitive issue despite the fact that an elected SGPC member from Haryana was contesting the Haryana government’s authority to create a separate gurdwara management committee for the State.

“Such naked attempts to meddle in Sikh religious affairs with the motive to sow discord amongst the community is condemnable and in line with the Gandhi family policy of divide and rule. The Sikh community will never allow this conspiracy to succeed”, the SAD President added.
