Amarinder telling lies, Refund of GST charged on Langar still not released: Tarun Chugh

Amritsar, Sep 23, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

The Bharatiya Janata Party has accused Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh of telling lies regarding the refund of GST charged on Langar.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP, said it was highly unfortunate that the Chief Minister was lying as an amount of Rs.3.27 crore as refund of GST to be released to SGPC has not reached the religious body till now.

The BJP leader said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government in the centre, during its previous tenure, had announced waiver of GST on langar items.

Chugh said, even as the Chief Minister has claimed that a refund of Rs.3.27 crore was issued to the Deputy Commissioner, Amritsar, in May, 2019 , the fact of the matter is that the said amount has not reached SGPC as yet.

“It is surprising that the amount sent by the State government as claimed by the Chief Minister, has not been refunded to the SGPC even after passage of four months,” Chugh said adding that there needs to be a probe as to why the refund amount has not been released to the SGPC.

“People of Punjab deserve to know who was holding the payment, if it was released by the government,” he said.

The BJP national secretary said that those responsible for the delay must be identified and action needs to be taken against the guilty.

Chugh said that appointing numerous advisors and OSDs besides a top heavy bureaucratic infrastructure won’t serve any purpose unless they were held accountable for their lapses.
