Amarinder should take up farmers’ issues with Modi instead of indulging in slugfest with Khattar: Jarnail Singh

Chandigarh, November 30, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has slammed the Punjab chief minister Capt Amarinder Singh for his dubious role in the ongoing farmers’ struggle, adding that he (Captain) should take on the prime minister Narendra Modi instead of indulging himself in a slugfest with Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar, who had unleashed brute force against the farmers marching towards the national capital to hold their peaceful protest there against the three central farm laws.

In a statement issued from party headquarters in Chandigarh here on Monday in charge Punjab Affairs and Tilak Nagar MLA Jarnail Singh said that chief minister Captain Amarinder Singh was acting as a second fiddle to the Union Government instead of holding hands of the farmers in this hour of crisis when they were fighting a formidable battle against the Centre for their survival and sustenance.

Hitting out at Capt Amarinder Singh, Jarnail Singh questioned the chief minister as to what were the political compulsions that he had to kneel down before the Modi government? He said the CM should clear the air over the million-dollar question.

Jarnail Singh said the need of the hour was that Amarinder Singh should come out of his farmhouse and exert pressure on Prime Minister Narendra Modi to accede to the demands of the farmers on a priority basis, adding that he had played dubious role in clearing the passage for the three draconian laws, brought in by the Modi government at the Centre.

The AAP leader said that the Modi government would not have pushed in the controversial black laws on agriculture, were the captain government strong enough to resist the implementation of the anti-farmer laws in the state.

Jarnail Singh that the CM should shun the policy of hailing every anti-people decision of the Modi Government, adding that he should immediately head for talks with the prime minister and have the black laws repealed unconditionally .

The Punjab in charge further said that if the Modi-led NDA government backtracked on rolling back the controversial black laws, Capt. Amarinder Singh should immediately pitch in to pass a Bill to make the minimum support price (MSP) on all crops a statutory right of the farmers.
