Amarinder must clear his stand on Digvijay’s comparison of Sikh pilgrims with Tablighis: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, May 5, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Bharatiya Janata Party has urged Punjab Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh to break his silence on the statement of Senior Congress leader Digvijay Singh for his attempt to compare Sikh pilgrims from Hazoor Sahib with members of the Tablighi Jamaat.

Tarun Chugh, the national secretary of the BJP, today said that Digvijay Singh, the political Guru of Rahul Gandhi, has compared Tablighis with the disciplined Sikh pilgrims who have returned from Hazur Sahib after being stuck there for more than 40 days.

Chugh slammed Digvijay Singh for compare Sikh pilgrims with Tablighis who had claimed that the Coronavirus won’t do any harm to Muslims as it was meant to decimate ‘Kaafirs’, who do not believe in Islaam.

The BJP leader said it was not for the first time that a Congress leader has targeted Sikh community. The Congress leadership had always been victimizing Sikhs in one way or the other and this was another instance where one of the top leaders of the party has tried to defame the Sikhs.

Blasting top Congress leadership for leading a misleading campaign regarding railway fares being charged from migrants opting to return to their native starts, Chugh said that telling lies for scoring brownie points has brought Congress to where it was today.

The BJP leader ridiculed Congress for offering to pay the railway fare of migrants, claiming that Prime Minister Narendra Modi-led government had already decided to pay 85% and just a nominal 15% of the fare was to be borne by the respective states.

Chugh said it would have been better, had Congress Chief Sonia Gandhi, instead of making false claims and offers, had directed the Congress Chief Ministers to pay their part of the railway fare to facilitate the smooth return of the migrants. He alleged that Maharashtra, Rajasthan, Kerala and Punjab governments were politicizing the issue of return of migrants and also the payment of railway fares.

The BJP national secretary said some Congress ruled states including Maharashtra, besides forcing migrants to pay were also charging Rs.200 for issuing medical certificates.

Chugh claimed that the frustration of Congress was showing every now and then as Prime Minister Narendra Modi was leading the nation in this hour of crisis so well that his efforts have been acknowledged and appreciated at international level.
