Amarinder making political use of SIT report on Guru Granth Sahib desecration incidents: Tarun Chugh

Chandigarh, April 20, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
BJP national general secretary Tarun Chugh today squarely blamed Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh for failing to bring to book culprits responsible for a series of incidents of Guru Granth Sahib desecration in the state.

In a statement, Chugh came down heavily on the chief minister not addressing such a serious matter seriously and sincerely. “Even in these incidents the chief minister has been trying to make political capital instead of taking exemplary action against culprits”, he said.

While demanding that the SIT report, which took more than four years to complete, must be made public and tabled in the Assembly, Chugh warned Amarinder against being lenient to the culprits and make political use of the SIT report.

Chugh also blamed the chief minister for failing to handle Covid crisis in Punjab. He said the chief minister’s demand for setting up an oxygen plant in the state was a desperately poor cover-up for his abject failures in protecting the state from the pandemic.

He said the chief minister should give up sever-star culture and work sincerely for the state. Chugh said farmers in mandis were facing hardships because of lopsided arrangements made by the state government for procurement. He underlined the state government’s failure to arrange for gunny bags on time which, he said, had aggravated the farmers’ problems in mandis.
