Amarinder Govt should refrain from selling Punjab property to Corporate houses under Central Plan: Parminder Dhindsa

Chandigarh, August 30, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
The Shiromani Akali Dal (Sanyukt) has strongly criticized the anti-people decision of the Punjab government to hand over hundreds of government properties in the state to private hands under the Union Government’s scheme.

In a statement issued here, senior party leader, MLA and former Finance Minister, Sh. Parminder Singh Dhindsa slammed the Captain-led Congress government on the said issue and asked the Punjab government to had join hands with the Center and therefore it has agreed to hand over the government property to the Corporate groups. He said that the people of the State will never tolerate this privatisation.

“Captain government had drastically failed to generate resources in Punjab as per its promises. Due to which preparations are being made to sell government properties in private hands,” said Sh. Dhindsa.

Sh. Dhindsa said that the state government is working expeditiously in this regard and under this 53 government rest houses and 10 roads have been identified for sale. In addition to the list of Guru Nanak Auditorium in Amritsar, Gol Bagh Sports Complex, Maharaja Ranjit Singh Auditorium, some of the government land in Ludhiana has been prepared by the State Government.

Besides this, another list of properties in Mohali, Multipurpose Sports Stadium, Shri Dashmesh Martial Arts, Sports Academy, Moga, Ferozepur and Ludhiana has also been made for selling these properties to private houses, added Sh. Dhindsa.

He said that the Department of Cultural Affairs had already said that about a dozen properties would be handed over to private hands.

Sh. Dhindsa said that the government is not only privatizing government property but by doing so it would also allow demolition of heritage sites. This will destroy the historical significance of these places, he added

He said that Captain government is following the path of the Center and if the privatization of government property continued like this then the day is not far when the Department of Technical Education, Power and Agriculture would also be handed over to the private sector and the entire State would be completely ruled by Corporate houses only.
