Amarinder Govt should crack a whip on Insurance Companies harassing gullible beneficiaries: AAP

Chandigarh, November 12, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) Punjab has blamed the Amarinder Singh government in the saddle for maintaining a stoic silence over the unscrupulous insurance companies imposing premium worth crores of rupees on the beneficiary farmers of the Bhai Ghanhaiya Health Care Scheme.

In a statement issued from the party headquarters here on Thursday, Deputy Leader of Opposition Sarabjit Kaur Manuke lashed out at the Capt Amarinder Singh government for acting as a lame duck, adding that the government should, instead of joining hands with the unscrupulous insurance companies, ask them to restrain from harassing the farmers further.

Sarabjit Kaur Manuke alleged that due to the laxity of the Captain government that half of the companies left midway, due to which beneficiary farmers were deprived of the benefits of health scheme for over 6 months now, while the insurance company imposed an additional premium worth Rs 19 crore on 1.5 beneficiary farmers in the state, leaving them to rue and rant in resignation, which, she said, was totally unwarranted, demanding that the government should immediately revoke the orders of the insurance company, so that they could heave a sigh of relief.

Raising an accusing finger towards the govt in the saddle, Manuke alleged that the corruption-ridden government had allowed the insurance company to ‘loot’ the farmers by fixing the ‘booty’ in collusion with the company top brass, alleging that mafia was already active in the state usurping worth crore on account subsidy agricultural appliance and others.

The AAP MLA said there was dire need to ramp up the health services in Punjab, saying the Captain government should adopt the health model of the Arvind Kejriwal government in Delhi to provide better health facilities to the people.
