Amarinder govt. deliberately gave time to CBI for filing closure report: AAP

Chandigarh, August 6, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs slammed the former BJP-SAD government and the ruling Captain-led Congress Government in the state over its colossal failures immediately after the Assembly session while addressing media persons here today.

Taking a swipe at the Captain Amarinder Singh Government, Leader of Opposition (LoP), Harpal Singh Cheema accused the ruling Congress government of following in the footsteps of the Badals, stating that Captain had assumed the charge of all mafias run by the Badals.

On the occasion, senior leader of the party and Sunam MLA, Aman Arora leveled serious charges against the government of protecting the Badals over the issue of the menace of drugs and desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib.

Cheema accused the government of running away from the core issues of concern by keeping the Monsoon session confined to brief period of time, saying the AAP had demanded an extended period of 20 sittings so that the core issues could be transacted.

Cheema accused the Captain government of dragging its feet from taming the powerful land mafia, sand mafia, power, education and transport mafias, which had gained ground during the 10-year long regime of the Badals, adding that the situation had worsened during the current government’s tenure extending patronage to them.

The AAP leaders said that the law and order machinery had gone for a toss and there was the rule of gun-n-gore in the state. The gruesome broad-day light murder of Drug Control Officer, Neha Shori, at her Kharar office, was an example of the deteriorating law and order situation in the state.

Cheema said that ‘dalit’ students were not being paid the outstanding amount of Rs 1200 crore scholarship due for years now. The recurring hike in power rates in the state had hit one and all in the state and there was no let up, Cheema added.

Aman Arora that the issues of desecration of Sri Guru Granth Sahib and drugs had figured prominently during the past four years, stating that the call attention motion on the menace of drugs brought up by the AAP MLAs was spurned by the speaker following which the AAP leaders had to stage a walk out. Taking on the Badals on the CBI’s closure report, Arora questioned that staging a walk-out over the issue by SAD MLAs was sham and a ploy to earn some political brownie points, saying the Captain government was all for protecting the Badals in the case.

Arora asked the government to clarify if notification in respect of withdrawal of the case from the CBI was issued or not, giving the date on which it was sent. He said that the government was offering adequate time to the CBI to help prepare and present the closure report.

Others who were present on the occasion were Bibi Sarbjit Kaur Manuke, Jai Krishan Singh Rori, spokemen Navdeep Sangha, Neel Garg, Simran Sehjpal and state media in charge Manjit Singh Sidhu.
