Allegations leveled regarding SGPC website an expression of incomplete information: Sukhminder Singh

Amritsar, May 26, 2021 (Yes Punjab News)
Taking notice of the baseless allegations framed by Sarchand Singh Khiyala with regards to Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee’s (SGPC) new website, SGPC additional secretary Sukhminder Singh said that the work to update data from old to the new website is still ongoing.

Sukhminder Singh said that the new website of SGPC was made last January, as the domain name of the old website ‘sgpc.net’ gave an impression of a network, whereas SGPC is a large organisation. Therefore, the domain name was changed to ‘sgpcamritsar.org’.

“The work of updating the new website is still ongoing regularly and once the same is done; it will contain entire data from the old website. As per the need of the hour, modern technology has been adopted in the SGPC website”, said Sukhminder Singh.

“The allegations leveled by Sarchand Singh regarding destroying or deleting data from the old website are baseless and all the data of SGPC is safe with the organisation and the same is being updated from time to time”, said SGPC’s additional secretary Sukhminder Singh.

SGPC official added that as far as recorded kirtan, katha, mukhwak, and books are concerned, these are being made available on the new website. Moreover, the information related to Sikh history, Sikh principles and Sikh Rehat Maryada (code of conduct) will also be part of the new website.

Sukhminder Singh said that SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur had constituted a committee of Sikh experts including Dr Balwant Singh Dhillon, Dr Paramvir Singh, Principal Prabhjot Kaur, Dr Inderjit Singh Gogoani, Dr Amarjit Singh, and Dr Jogeshwar Singh for reviewing the content on the website. Not only this, many historic, as well as new books related to the Sikh faith, will also, be a part of this new website.

Sukhminder Singh said that the new website is an effort to centralise all the institutions, departments and trusts of the SGPC, under which, the links to the websites and information of the institutions are being centralised. He said that work of updating the website completely is still pending and Sarchand Singh is creating this as an issue without knowing the truth and its nothing but propaganda against the Sikh organisation.

SGPC’s official said that after the new website is updated completely, it will prove to be a better medium to connect with the sangat. “Apart from getting information about the work of SGPC in an easy manner, the sangat will also be able to know about Gurbani kirtan and Sikh activities”, said Sukhminder Singh.

He said that “If Sarchand Singh is actually concerned about the services being performed by the Sikh organisation then he should approach SGPC and give his suggestions, which will be welcomed by the SGPC. But it is not good to create baseless issues just to defame the reputation of the organisation.”
