All Beneficiaries of Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana to issue e-cards in 6 months: Balbir Sidhu

To ensure the treatment and health services to every eligible beneficiary of SSBY (Sarbat Sehat Bima Yojana), the Health & Welfare Minister Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on Thursday held the meeting with the State Health Agency and Department of Food & Supply, Excise & Taxation, Labour & Mandi Board.

While presiding over the meeting, the Health Minister has directed the State Health Agency to enrol all target beneficiaries of SSBY in six months so that beneficiaries covered under respective departments and categories would make eligible to get tertiary health services from the empanelled hospitals. He emphasized the need to accelerate IEC activities for generating cards of beneficiaries. He said that around 46 lakhs e-cards had been issued to the beneficiaries so far.

Health Department is going to conduct drive at village level in all districts of State to intensify the process of generating e-cards and it has been made compulsory for concerned departments that they would arrange the camps to generate e-cards of their eligible beneficiaries and their family members, he said.

The Minister instructed the concerned departments to expedite process of generating e-cards of their respective beneficiaries. He urged the Food & Civil Supply department that special centres for generating e-cards to be established to cover all beneficiaries in six months.

The Minister also directed the Punjab Mandi Board to organise camps at market committees so as to ensure more and more farmers get registered and are able to avail the cashless health insurance cover of Rs 5 Lakh per family per year. He also asked Excise and Taxation department to initiate the awareness drive for the small traders those are covered under Insurance scheme.

He reiterated that Captain Amarinder Singh led Punjab Government has committed to provide quality health services to the people of Punjab at their doorsteps and to achieve this aim around 784 hospitals had been empanelled under this scheme.

Among other present in the meeting included CEO AY-SSBY Amit Kumar, OSD to Health Minister Dr. Balwinder Singh, ACEO SSBY Dr. Shweta Mohindra, Dr. Sanjeev Jain and other senior officers of health department.
