Akal Takht Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh releases Nanakshahi Calendar for Sammat 554

Five Singhs released the Nanakshahi Sammat 554 (year 2022-23) calendar at the Secretariat office of Sri Akal Takht Sahib at Amritsar today. Those present on the occasion of releasing the calendar included Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, Jathedar of Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib Giani Raghbir Singh, head granthi of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Malkit Singh, two among Panj Piaras (five beloved ones) of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Bhai Sukhwinder Singh and Bhai Baljinder Singh.

Speaking on this occasion, Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said this year’s Nanakshahi calendar has been dedicated to the first centenary of Shaheedi Saka (massacre) of Sri Panja Sahib, as this massacre holds great significance in the Sikh history.

Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said during his recent visit to Pakistan, he held a discussion with the representatives of Pakistan government about establishing a memorial regarding the massacre at Sri Panja Sahib and a positive response has been received to the same.

The Jathedar said the historical days of the Qaum (Sikh nation) are an inspiration to connect the new generation with our heritage and history.

Congratulating the Sangat on the arrival of new Nanakshahi year, the Jathedar appealed to celebrate and mark the Gurpurbs and other historical days as per the Nanakshahi calendar.

The Jathedar said it is a good initiative that on the occasion of arrival of new Nanakshahi year, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organise special Gurmat Samagams (religious congregations) every year at Gurdwara Sri Manji Sahib Diwan Hall and other historical Gurdwara Sahibs and the Sangat should attend these Samagams in large number.

Those present on this occasion included SGPC member Bhai Rajinder Singh, Bhai Manjit Singh, Bhai Amarjeet Singh, Dharam Prachar Committee member Bhai Ajaib Singh, S. Sukhwarsh Singh, additional secretaries S. Partap Singh and Dr. Paramjit Singh, assistant secretary S. Kulwinder Singh Ramdas, S. Sakatar Singh, S. Gurmeet Singh, S. Tejinder Singh, S. Simarjeet Singh, superintendent S. Malkit Singh, manager S. Jaspal Singh and more.
