The Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) organised a Gurmat Samagam (religious congregation) at Sadullapur Bangar village in Meerut district of Uttar Pradesh (UP), which was specially attended by Sri Akal Takht Sahib Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh.
Sadullapur Bangar is the only village in UP, where the Gujjar Sikhs are settled for the last about 200 years who have kept their Sikh identity intact and preserved.
During a Gurmat Samagam organised by the SGPC’s Sikh Mission at Hapur in UP, Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh adorned turbans of more than 40 children and he appreciated the village residents for preserving their Sikh identity.
While addressing on this occasion, Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh said, “The great legacy of the Sikh faith and Saabat Soorat (with unshorn hair) appearance is the unique identity of the Qaum (community). It is satisfactory to see that the Sadullapur village in the Meerut district of UP has kept their children connected to the inheritance. Today, the Sikhs are settled across the world and they are holding the prestigious positions.”
On this occasion, Jathedar Akal Takht Sahib appreciated the Dharam Prachar services (of flourishing Sikh faith) being rendered by the SGPC’s Sikh Mission in Hapur, UP, and urged them to continue the series of such events.
During the event, SGPC member Gurpreet Singh Jhabbar, Baba Surinder Singh Kar Sewa from Delhi, S. Manjit Singh president of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Meerut, Bibi Kamlesh Kaur president of Gurdwara Singh Sabha, Shahjahanpur, personal assistant S. Ranjit Singh, Sikh Mission Delhi in-charge S. Surinderpal Singh, Sikh Mission Hapur in-charge S. Brijpal Singh and others were present.
