Akal Takht Jathedar and representatives of SGPC to attend Sikh woman Principal’s Bhog in J&K: Jagir Kaur

SGPC President Bibi Jagir Kaur said that Jathedar of Sri Akal Takht Sahib Giani Harpreet Singh, SGPC junior vice-president Baba Buta Singh and SGPC general secretary Advocate Bhagwant Singh Sialka will attend the bhog (final prayers) of Supinder Kour, a principal of a school in Srinagar, Kashmir who was killed recently in Srinagar.

She said that the representatives of the SGPC including the Jathedar would leave for Srinagar tomorrow on October 13 to participate in the final prayers of Sri Akhand Path Sahib for Supinder Kour. The Jathedar and SGPC representatives will also meet local Sikh representatives to learn about the problems faced by them in the region.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that there was a sense of resentment among the Sikhs over the killing of the Sikh principal and the government should ensure the safety of the minorities there.

She said that she had expressed her condolences to the family of the principal over the phone and the in-charge and preacher of Jammu and Kashmir Sikh Mission had personally expressed his condolences.
