AIIMS Bathinda start Emergency Medical Services

AIIMS Bathinda started its OPD services on 23rd Dec 2019. To date,4,66,664 number of patients have been served with an average daily footfall of 1600-1800 patients. During the COVID-19 pandemic, the institute delineated its leadership role in the region and started its Level-2 & Level -3 services in the make-shift wards and successfully treated approx. 250 patients.

State-of-the-art COVID-19 testing services were set up to offer a timely diagnosis. More than 200 cases of Mucor mycosis (Black Fungus) have been treated, and we were known as the center has a maximum number of mucor surgeries in the Punjab region, after PGIMER, Chandigarh. Soon, COVID-19 vaccination services started in Jan 2021, with 18,000 vaccinations to date.

The OT services commenced with minimum resources, and to date, we have done more than 1000 major surgeries and more than 2400 minor surgeries and day care procedures, including the Craniotomy, Knee and Hip Replacement, Commando operation, Arthroscopy, Spine Surgeries, Mucor Surgeries, Total oesophageal flap Reconstruction, Breast Conservation Surgeries, Laparoscopy, Radical Nephrectomy, Urethroplasty, Hysterectomy.

AIIMS Bathinda started its IPD services, and to date 5208 number of patients have been served through Inpatient services.

AIIMS Bathinda is also empanelled under the Ayushman Bharat scheme, and to date, approx. 1000 cases have been treated through the scheme. We have best in the class Diagnostic facilities available in the institute that have benefitted needy and poor patients with 4812 MRI, 5812 CT, 7610 Ultrasounds, 4812 ECHO, 47013 X-Ray number of patients to date.

Despite all the odds offered during the pandemic, the organization is trying its level best to offer comprehensive medical care services to the people of Punjab and nearby states. As a part of this commitment, the institute has achieved another milestone by starting the Emergency Medical Services, w.e.f. 1st June 2022 on a trial mode where round-the-clock services will be offered to the needy patients.

Initially, the capacity of the emergency will be limited to 15 beds, which will be slowly increased in a phased manner, as the institute is still in the phase of commissioning.
