Adopt New Technologies to Make Farming in Punjab More Sustainable and Profitable: Mohinder Bhagat

Punjab Horticulture and Defence Services Welfare Minister Mohinder Bhagat today urged farmers to adopt new technologies in farming to bolster the socio-economic growth of the state. The Minister was visiting an exhibition namely Machinex 2026 organized at New Grain Market Jalandhar which showcased new technologies to grow income of peasantry.

Mohinder Bhagat emphasized the vital role of farmers in the state’s economy and the country’s food supply.

He highlighted the importance of making farming a sustainable and profitable profession through the use of the latest agricultural technologies. He assured the farmers that the Punjab Government, under Chief Minister Bhagwant Singh Mann, is dedicated to supporting state’s agro-economy. He encouraged farmers to actively participate and share their valuable suggestions to help the state government formulate new initiatives.

“The government is already providing assistance with modern farming machinery, seeds, technologies, weather forecasts, and pesticide use,” he added. The Minister also underscores the need for crop diversification to conserve groundwater and called on farmers to stop stubble burning to protect the environment.

The Minister further added that the latest machines displayed at the exhibition could prove boon for the farmers by reducing their production cost and growing their income. He also urged all farmers to join hands with the state government in this noble cause.

He took stock of the entire exhibition showcasing agro products and appealed to farmers to leverage the latest technologies for profitability and environmental conservation.
