Abohar, Sept 25, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

Social activist and Lambardar Stinu Jain has urged Fazilka Deputy Commissioner Mr Arvind Pal Singh Sandhu, IAS to act against Assumption Convent School, Abohar for flouting COVID norms.

Jain has urged the DC to order the concerned authorities to seal the school to prevent the threat of community spread.

In a letter written to the Deputy Commissioner, Jain said, a senior tea cher who frequently came to school was tested COVID positive and after a few days one more teacher who came in contact with the above said teacher became ill and tested COVID positive. Many teachers came in contact with these teachers, he said.

He said, “Although the exams are being conducted online but teachers are called frequently by the school administration. The Principal of the school is not paying attention to this serious issue and does not come to school, but only gives instructions to teachers from her place. Now there is a higher risk to other teachers also.”

Jain said the students have been given the instructions that they will submit the hard copy of their online papers to school after the exams. Thus, students and their parents have to come to school for this. This would create hoax with the school.

Jain question as to why so many teachers were being called to school even when two teachers are tested COVID positive? He said, school were not being sanitized resulting in high risk of COVID 19 community spread. Examination Papers must be checked online by teachers.

“When the staff of some banks are tested COVID positive, the banks are closed so why not school,” he said requesting the Deputy Commissioner to direct the Local Civil Administration, Health Department & District Education Officer of the wide general public interest. He also urged the DC that Assumption Convent School be closed down and be properly sanitized before opening.
