Aarogya Mela concluded with a call to adopt Ayurveda for healthy life

Three-day Aarogya Mela under mission ‘Tandarust Punjab’ and in commemoration of 550th Prakash Purb of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, today concluded here at Puda Bhawan Ground, Phase-8 with a call to adopt Ayurveda for healthy life.

Dr. B.K Sharma Kaushik, Vice Chancellor, Guru Ravidass Ayurvedic University, Hoshiarpur was the Chief Guest, while Registrar Dr. Tejinder Singh, Joint Director Dr. Bakhshish Singh and Dr. Neki Verma, Principal Government Ayurvedic College Patiala Professor Harvinder Grover, DHA Dr. Neerja Sharma, Dr. K.K. Chopra and Dr. Vikram Goel were the Special Guests during the closing ceremony.

Addressing the gathering, the Chief Guest Dr. Kaushik said that Ayurveda heals very serious diseases. He exhorted people that eating and drinking habits as per the nature and natural food is beneficial to stay healthy.

In his key address, Director Ayurveda Dr. Rakesh Kumar said that Ayurveda is also very effective in controlling the fatal disease such as Thalassemia. “Two new 50-beded Ayush hospitals will be opened soon in the state”, he said, adding that more Arogya Mela would be organized for the well being of the people in coming days.

MD (Psychology) Dr. Vikram Goel highlighted the importance of being able to cope with mental illness with the help of Ayurveda nad Yoga. Medicinal Plants were given free of cost to the general public at the Mela.

During the three day fair, Ayurvedic doctors examined 1578 patients, Unani experts examined 310 and Specialists of Homeopathy have examined 527 patients and gave free medicines.

At the same time, people were encouraged to include yoga in their lifestyle and Yoga Mudras were taught by the specialists. Literature about various topics of Ayurvedic/ Homeopathic and Unani has been distributed among the visitors.

Many representatives of private ayurvedic and homeopathic pharmacy companies also participated in the fair and provided medicinal information to the people visiting fair. The concluding event ends with cultural program of Saraswati Ayurvedic College Gharuan. District Ayurvedic and Unani Officer, Mohali Mr. Chandan Kumar Kaushal thanked the guests and visitors.
