Chandigarh, February 24, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs led by leader of opposition (LoP) Harpal Singh Cheema, stalled the House proceedings on Monday seeking dismissal of cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and DGP Dinkar Gupta, forcing the Speaker Rana KP Singh to adjourn the House proceedings thrice.

As the question hour began on Monday afternoon, Harpal Singh Cheema raised questions over the controversial statement made by the DGP, Punjab, Dinkar Gupta over the Kartarpur Sahib corridor and the alleged role of Cabinet rank Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu, in terrorist activity, as claimed by Punjab police officer Balwinder Shekhon.

When the demand raised by the LoP over the issue of dismissal of Bharat Bhushan Ashu and DGP Dinkar Gupta, was not acceded to by the Speaker during the question hour, the AAP MLAs, including Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Principal Budh Ram, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Aman Arora, Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, Meet Hayer, Jai Krishan Singh Rori, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Master Baldev Singh, Manjit Singh Bilaspur and Kulwant Singh Pandauri, stormed the well of the House raising slogans against the government and the speaker.

Even as the speaker Rana KP Singh, citing the absence of leader of the House, Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh, sought cooperation of all members to run the House proceedings smoothly, the agitated AAP leaders were adamant on their demand for immediate removal both Ashu and Gupta, which led the Speaker to adjourn the House thrice

Harpal Singh Cheema said that the Congress which claimed to stamp out the element of terrorism in the state, was infested with terrorist-minister in its own cabinets, as per documented statement made by DSP Sekhon, demanding that the Captain Amarinder Singh should sack his cabinet minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu and order his immediate arrest.

Talking to the media, Cheema alleged that the reprehensive statement made by DGP Dinkar Gupta over the Sri Kartarpur corridor was a well thought-out design, which was divisive in tone and tenor, saying the uncouth statement made by the DGP had hurt the religious sentiments of teeming millions of Nanak- leva sangat and those who have an abiding faith in the teachings of Guru Nanak Dev from across the world.

He termed it preposterous that there was ample scope for those visiting the historic Sri Kartarpur Sahib to undergo training in Pakistan terror camps and turn terrorists in barely six hours.

Earlier, AAP MLAs staged a sit-in outside the assembly reiterating their demand for immediate dismissal of Bharat Bhushan Ashu and DGP Dinkar Gupta.
