AAP stages walkout seeking dismissal of DGP Dinkar Gupta, Minister Ashu

Chandigarh, February 25, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) MLAs on Tuesday staged a walk-out of the House here on Tuesday amid sloganeering, seeking immediate removal of DGP Dinkar Gupta and Cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Leader of Opposition, Harpal Singh Cheema cornered Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh over the burning issues, but no plausible answers could satisfy the AAP leaders. They maintained their aggressive stance over the Chief Minister Capt Amarinder Singh’s giving ‘clean chit’ to DGP Dinkar Gupta and cabinet Minister Bharat Bhushan Ashu.

Talking to media persons after the walkout, Cheema alleged that there were umpteen criminal cases pending against Ashu, including the bomb blast in Ludhiana’s Gur Mandi area, blind murder of three women, hatching a conspiracy with terrorist to assassinate his ‘taya’ (paternal uncle), saying that all those cases be reopened for trial on the basis of Ashu’s own confessional statement.

Cheema, reiterating his demand, said the state DGP should be immediately sacked for his highly insensitive statement against the venerable spot where the first Sikh master Guru Nanak Dev had spent his last days, alleging that the DGP, whose pictures with Pakistani woman Arusa Alam were going viral on social media, adding that it appeared if she was actually running the Punjab government. Cheema said that those who were indulging in hate propaganda over the historic Sri Kartarpur Sahib corridor should come and explain on what basis Arusha Alam was staying in Punjab?

Others who were a part of the walkout included Aman Arora, Kultar Singh Sandhwan, Prof. Baljinder Kaur, Sarabjit Kaur Manuke, Principal Budh Ram, Jai Krishan Singh Rauri, Kulwant Singh Pandori, Rupinder Kaur Ruby, Manjit Singh Bilaspur and Master Baldev Singh (All MLAs).
