AAP Punjab condemns attacks on doctors, urges them to perform their social responsibility

Chandigarh, June 17, 2019 (Yes Punjab News)

Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) senior leader and Sunam MLA, Aman Arora has strongly condemned the violent attacks on the doctors in the country, which, he said, smacked of cheap political gimmick.

In a statement issued from headquarter here on Monday here, Arora said that Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) was totally against the violent attacks on doctors in any part of the country, saying that providing protection to the doctor was the statutory obligation of the government. He said that the doctors too had social responsibilities to live up to.

Arora said that such unfortunate incidents would continue to take place as long as the government would keep shunning its responsibility towards the people of the state. He said that due to the lack of basic amenities in government hospitals and shortfall of medics and, of course, expensive medical treatment at the privately-owned health providers in the state, were attributable the happening of such a worthless spats.

Arora said that Punjab was leading the country in such incidents for the reason that the government hospitals in Punjab were themselves sick given the facilities available at the hospitals. He added that there was a huge crunch of doctors, paramedical staff, medicines and facilities in the government hospitals, people of the state were left to be ‘fleeced’ by the private hospitals in the state that had mushroomed in the state.

The AAP leader appealed to Punjab government and other state governments in the country to replicate the Arvind Kejriwal-led government health model, adding that till the time the governments did not allocate 16 per cent of the total budget for more for the health services as the Kejriwal government done in Delhi, the health services won’t improve, leaving the general public to be ‘plundered’ at the hands of private health providers.
