AAP Punjab Appoints New Halka Incharges for Amritsar North and Majitha Constituencies

Chandigarh, July 8, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) has announced key organizational changes in Punjab by appointing new Halka Incharges for two high-profile constituencies—Amritsar North and Majitha. The appointments aim to strengthen the party’s grassroots presence and prepare for future electoral challenges.

In a press release issued by the party on Monday, Karamjit Singh Rintu has been named the new Halka Incharge for Amritsar North. This constituency was earlier represented by Kunwar Vijay Pratap Singh, a former IPS officer-turned-politician who was recently suspended from AAP for five years over alleged anti-party activities.

Meanwhile, Talbir Singh Gill, once a close aide of senior Akali leader Bikram Singh Majithia, has been appointed as the Halka Incharge for the Majitha Assembly segment. His appointment is seen as a strategic move, given his deep political roots and prior association with Shiromani Akali Dal (SAD).

The Majitha constituency is currently held by Ganieve Kaur Majithia, wife of Bikram Singh Majithia, who secured the seat in the 2022 Punjab Assembly elections on a SAD ticket.

These appointments reflect AAP’s efforts to restructure and revamp its organizational framework in regions with strong opposition influence. Political analysts see the move as part of the party’s broader strategy to counter entrenched political families and consolidate voter base in key constituencies.
