Affected students staged a protest in front of Education Minister Vijay Inder Singla’s residence as Punjab School Education Board failed to announce the results of 10th Open class yet. Joining the students in their protest AAP senor leader and MLA Prof. Baljinder Kaur along with local party leaders targeted the Congress Government for the lapse in announcing the results which has highly affected the career of students of Punjab.
Addressing the dharna, Prof. Baljinder Kaur said that the Punjab School Education Board was ruining the future of thousands of students especially belonging to poor, dalits and ordinary households due to the inanity of the Education Minister.
AAP MLA said that students pursuing matriculation through the board’s open school system instead of regular studies are those who could not afford regular studies due to their domestic circumstances and compulsions and non declaration for their results have impeded them to avail job opportunities including army recruitment.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur demanded that the results of the children be announced as soon as possible so that the students could take part in the Indian Army recruitment scheduled at the end of this month, as the last date of recruitment by the Government of India in the Indian Army is 30th August.
The date has been fixed for August 30, but if the Punjab government does not immediately announce the results of the 10th open class students, then those students who are dedicated to serve the country can no longer participate in the army recruitment.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur said that there are total 31,000 students of 10th Open Class in Punjab. A total of Rs. 46.50 crore is collected by the Board / Government every year at the rate of Rs. 15,000 / – per student, but despite raising such a huge amount, the Government is running away from the responsibility of announcing its result, whereas, all the states have already been announced the results of open classes.
Prof. Baljinder Kaur said that sensing the gravity of the matter, senior AAP leader and Leader of Opposition Harpal Singh Cheema and MLA Kultar Singh Sandhwan on Thursday met Punjab School Education Board Chairman Dr. Yograj Singh and raised the issue of 10th Open Class result apart from writing a D.O. letter to the Education Minister Punjab in this regard.
