AAP failed to handle drug menace in Punjab: Balbir Singh Sidhu

Chandigarh, November 23, 2022 (Yes Punjab News)
BJP Leader and Former Health Minister, Punjab, Balbir Singh Sidhu slammed AAP Government which fails to counter drug menace in Punjab. He said that the state has witnessed an unprecedented spike in the cases of drugs in the last 8 months. Easy availability of ‘Chitta’ everywhere is the cause of concern, recently 27 drug hotspots have been identified in just one district Jalandhar which hints at the alarming situation across Punjab, he added.

He questioned CM Bhagwant Mann that what happened to the lofty promises and declarations that you and your political mentor Arvind Kejriwal made to the residents of Punjab during the assembly elections, claiming that you would eliminate the state’s drug menace once in power? He alleged that all such activities are happening under the nose of the AAP Government.

People in Punjab are bound to see distressing images and videos on social media and in the news on a daily basis. He stated that Bhagwant Mann and Cabinet Ministers have left Punjab on the mercy of God to lure voters of Gujarat. Here the situation is getting worse on all fronts.

AAP’s claim to end the drug problem in Punjab is confronted with reality. Their hollow promises are getting exposed one after the other. It is high time for Bhagwant Mann, including Cabinet Ministers, to fly back from Gujarat and address sensitive issues of Drugs in the State.

It seems that the AAP Government lacked both the will and the approach to safeguard the young generation from the threat of drugs. He said that the administration has failed to nab the drug mafias and to keep a strict vigil on the border areas where such smuggling is going on full swing.
