AAP extending all possible assistance to agitating farmers: Bhagwant Mann

Chandigarh, November 30, 2020 (Yes Punjab News)
Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) state president and Sangrur MP Bhagwant Mann on Monday said that the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) and the Arvind Kejriwal-led AAP in Delhi was extending all possible assistant to the agitating farmers, currently camping in the national capital Delhi, demanding withdrawal of the three central farm laws imposed by the Narendra Modi government at the Centre.

In a statement issued from party headquarters here on Monday, Bhagwant Mann said, “Today, due to the dictatorial attitude of the Centre and anti-farmer decisions of the Modi government , the country’s ‘annaadaata’ is fighting for its survival and sustenance.

In such a situation, it becomes imperative for each and every citizen of the country to stand rock solid behind teeming millions of farmers, who is fighting for their rights amid the prevailing cold weather conditions. There is no denying the fact that the Delhi government was the only one, which, under the visionary leadership of Arvind Kejriwal and Aam Aadmi Part were doing their duty by serving the agitating farmers”.

Bhagwant Mann said that the Kejriwal government in Delhi, realizing its moral duty to extend all possible assistance to the struggling farmers, had put in place facilities, like putting medical teams on constant vigil, availability of ambulances, langar (community kitchen), drinking water through tankers and makeshift toilets for farmers in the Delhi area. Mann added CM Arvind Kejriwal, had instructed all party leaders, MLAs and volunteers, to rise above petty party politics, and extend a helping hand to the farmers in every possible way.

The Sangrur MP said that the Aam Aadmi Party had been supporting the cause of the farmers from day one by resisting the implementation of the central agriculture ordinances, which had since become laws now. He said that Arvind Kejriwal was the first Chief Minister of the country, who along with the leadership of Punjab, had staged a ‘dharna’ at the Jantar Mantar against the black laws brought in by the Center, demanding their roll back.

Mann said that it was because of the Aam Aadmi Party’s clear stand against the black laws enacted against the farmers that the Kejriwal government had thwarted the Modi government’s move to derail the peasants’ movement, by refusing point blank the Delhi police’ request convert Delhi stadiums into makeshift detention Centre, adding that the Aam Aadmi Party had been with the farmers sans party banner and would continue to do so in times to come.
