AAP asks rebel MLAs to make their stand clear

New Delhi, June 20, 2019-

Delhi’s ruling Aam Aadmi Party on Thursday asked two of its rebel MLAs, Anil Bajpai and Devinder Sehrawat, to make their stand clear by either accepting that they have left the party and face disqualification from the Assembly or say that the BJP was lying that they never joined the saffron party.

The offer came after the AAP approached the Delhi Assembly Speaker Ram Niwas Goel seeking disqualification of the two MLAs who joined the BJP last month ahead of the Lok Sabha polls.

AAP spokesperson Saurabh Bharadwaj said the MLAs have to accept that they are not part of the AAP and face disqualification from the Assembly or they should say that senior BJP leaders, including Vijay Goyal and Vijender Gupta, were lying and the MLAs are still part of the AAP. The move came months ahead of the Assembly polls in Delhi.

Bharadwaj in a video message in Hindi also said the two MLAs were giving different statements on different occasions and “now they should make their stand clear”.

The party is also likely to take actions against a few other rebel MLAs for their actions, including Chandni Chowk MLA Alka Lamba and Karawal Nagar MLA Kapil Mishra for being vocal against party heads.  (Agency)
