The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) received a major boost today when, in the presence of the party’s Working President Sherry Kalsi, Cabinet Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar, and State General Secretary Harchand Singh Barsat, several leaders and workers from the Congress and other parties joined the AAP. During a press conference held in Tarn Taran, these new members were formally welcomed into the party.
Speaking on the occasion, Harchand Singh Barsat said that the wise people of Tarn Taran have endorsed the pro-people policies of the Aam Aadmi Party. He said that the party is committed to the development of the border areas and providing employment to the youth. Under the leadership of Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann, the government has provided government jobs to over 58,000 youth purely on the basis of merit, without any recommendation or bribery, which is a true example of transparent governance.
Barsat further said that the AAP government has ensured the availability of canal water to the tail ends of the fields and strengthened the irrigation system. In addition, revolutionary steps have been taken such as providing 600 units of free electricity to every household, free bus travel for women, and mohalla clinics for better healthcare facilities. He accused the previous Akali-Congress governments of selling off public assets, while the Bhagwant Mann government, for the first time, purchased a private thermal plant and dedicated it to the people.
Minister Laljit Singh Bhullar appealed to the people to ensure a massive victory for AAP candidate Harmeet Singh Sandhu in the upcoming elections. He said that by pressing the button for the symbol of ‘Jhaadu’ (broom) — number three on the machine — people can further accelerate the pace of development in the constituency.
Working President Sherry Kalsi, welcoming the new entrants into the party, said that the opposition parties, especially Congress and BJP, are on the verge of being wiped out from Punjab. He said that people are fed up with the anti-people policies of these parties and now trust only the Aam Aadmi Party.
