Mohali DC Aashika Jain revokes License of Stamp Vendor for Overcharging

Taking exemplary action against a stamp Vender of a local tehsil complex, the Deputy Commissioner, SAS Nagar, Mohali has revoked the license using the powers vested under the rule 31 of Punjab Stamp Act Rules 1934, today.

Issuing the orders, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain said that a complaint was received on September 5, 2024, that the stamp vender Balwinder Singh overcharged the price for issuing stamp paper.

To check the veracity of the complaint, a client was sent to the stamp vender on September 11 and he sought Rs 80 against the value of Rs 50 stamp paper. When he was confronted about the overcharging, he said that one could get it for Rs 50 from Sewa Kendra but he would charge Rs 80.

Finding upon the complaint against the Stamp Vendor factually correct, stern action has been taken against the erring stamp vendor, which is a clear indication to others also, said, the Deputy Commissioner Mrs Aashika Jain. She said that nobody would be allowed to cause inconvenience to the general public in such a way.
