COVID situation in Punjab is going bad to worse with each passing day. No respite in sight.
According to reports received on Monday, 157 people died of pandemic in last 24 hours. 6798 new cases were reported.
9472 people have died since the pandemic broke out in Punjab in 2020. The number of active cases in the state has risen to 60709 due to the second deadly wave of Corona.
Out of the 157 people who died in the state, 21 were from Ludhiana alone. Sangrur reported 16, Amritsar and Bathinda 13 each, Mohali 12, Pathankot 11 and ten people died in Patiala.
Apart from above, 9 people died in Hoshiarpur, 8 each in Muktsar and Fazilka, 7 in Jalandhar, 5 each in Kapurthala and Tarn Taran, 4 each in Faridkot and Gurdaspur, 3 in Barnala, 2 each in Nawanshahar, Mansa and Fatehgarh Sahib, and one each in Moga and Ferozepur.
Coming to new positive cases, 1198 were reported from Ludhiana alone. 697 people tested positive in Jalandhar, 623 in Bathinda, 534 in Mohali, 491 in Patiala and 421 in Amritsar.
