75% of Damaged Villages to be Surveyed Within 7 Days, Remaining Within 14 Days: Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal

Amritsar/Ajnala, September 16, 2025 (Yes Punjab News)

Punjab MLA and former Cabinet Minister S. Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal today led a cleanliness drive in flood-affected outer villages of Ajnala city, including Nangal, Vanjhawanwala, Chak Phoola, and Kamirpur, along with government schools.

At village Chak Phoola, while inspecting the damaged crops, he (S. Dhaliwal) personally drove a combine in the fields of farmer Sukhchain Singh Gill to physically examine the damaged paddy crop. He also listened to the problems of flood-affected farmers and other people and resolved several issues on the spot.

Later, while talking to selected journalists, MLA and former Cabinet Minister Kuldeep Singh Dhaliwal said that to provide timely compensation for crops damaged due to floods, girdawari (crop damage survey) has already started from September 13 in around 100 affected villages of Ajnala constituency and nearly 2,400 villages across Punjab.

Revenue department patwaris have begun their official duties in these villages. As per the directions of Punjab Chief Minister S. Bhagwant Singh Mann, patwaris will prepare reports for compensation—within 7 days for villages where more than 75% crop damage has occurred, and within 14 days for villages with less than 75% damage. No negligence will be tolerated in these reports.

Once the patwaris submit reports within the stipulated time, kanungos will visit 25 villages daily to verify the correctness of the reports. Meanwhile, tehsildars, SDMs, and the district Deputy Commissioner will also cross-check and supervise these reports at their levels. For the girdawari in Ajnala constituency, 25 patwaris have been deployed, while a total of 196 patwaris have been deputed across the district.

S. Dhaliwal further said that in the 100 flood-hit villages of Ajnala and nearly 2,400 villages across Punjab, the administration is also receiving active cooperation from social service organizations to tackle issues like silt, sand, and other sanitation problems caused by floodwater. He added that cleaning work, which is more challenging than climbing Mount Everest, will be completed within 10 days with the help of these organizations, as the government is committed to it.

He informed that in Ajnala constituency, social service organizations such as Sun Foundation (led by AAP Rajya Sabha MP Vikram Singh Sahni) and World Punjabi Organization have provided 50 tractors and 10 JCB machines for clearing silt, sand, and debris.

S. Dhaliwal said that so far, no epidemic outbreak has been reported in the flood-hit villages, but initial signs of eye and skin infections have appeared. In a survey conducted by the district health administration covering nearly 100,000 people in the affected villages, around 3,000 people were found suffering from eye and skin diseases.
