73.68 lakh children to be administered Albandazole tablets: Balbir Singh Sidhu

The National Deworming Day was today observed at the Government Elementary School, Landran in a State level function. The Health and Family Welfare Minister, Punjab, Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu on the occasion administered the Albandazole tablet to the children.

On the occasion, the minister said that the main purpose of observing the day is to free the children from infection caused in the stomach by worms besides making the common people aware about the importance of keeping good health which is also the main rationale behind the flagship scheme Mission Tandarust Punjab.

Mr. Sidhu further said that the tablet is being administered to the children from 1-19 years of age. The target is to cover 73.68 lakh children of Punjab. This tablet has been provided free of cost in all the schools and anganwadi centres of the State apart from the un registered schools and to those children also who are not going to school.

Reiterating the commitment of the Punjab Government to provide top notch healthcare facilities to the people of the State, Mr. Sidhu spreading awareness regarding health issues should be made the people’s movement.

Among others present on the occasion included the Political Secretary to Mr. Balbir Singh Sidhu- Mr. Harkesh Chand Sharma Machhli Kalan, Director Health and Family Welfare Dr. Rita Bhardwaj, Civil Surgeon S. A. S. Nagar Dr. Manjeet Singh, OSD Dr. Balwinder Singh, Executive Director Swachh Foundation Dr. Vijay Sharma (Retd. WHO), Program Officer RSK Dr. Sukhdeep Kaur, District Immunization Officer Dr. Veena Jarewal, Assistant Program Officer Dr. Yogesh Kumar Rai.
