Continuing his efforts to make Jalandhar a self-reliant district in oxygen generation, Deputy Commissioner Ghanshyam Thori on Wednesday exhorted hospitals with high O2 consumption to soon install their PSA-based oxygen production plants.
Divulging the details, The deputy commissioner stated that seven of the hospitals including NHS, New Rubi, Shrimann Super Speciality, Tagore, Patel, PIMS, and Capitol hospitals have already installed thee oxygen generation plants in their premises.
He added that the remaining hospitals should emulate this move, which would enable these healthcare establishments to meet the requirement during the possible third wave, whenever it hits. It would also reduce dependency for O2 from the other states, he said.
The DC lauded the efforts of seven hospitals that have installed these plants acceding to the appeals of administration. He said that the transportation cost of oxygen from the eastern states can often be as much as 200 percent of the cost of the oxygen itself. Thus, installing such plants would not only make hospitals oxygen-independent but also allow them to extend unhindered quality care to their patients in a future crisis if any, he added.
The DC said that the administration has identified hospitals, who need to install PSA plants to be able to cater to the patients more effectively. He appealed to the management of Innocent Hearts Hospital, Sarvodya, Johal, Neuronova, Maan Medicity, Oxford, Military Hospital Caremax, and Ghai Hospital.
Mr. Thori further added that Jalandhar Civil Hospital was also going to have its second oxygen generation plant in its premises, which would further accelerate its capacity to produce medical oxygen. He mentioned that with collective efforts only, we can achieve the goal of becoming self-reliant in oxygen generation.
