550th Parkash Purab of Guru Nanak Dev: Thousands welcome Delhi-Shri Nankana Sahib “Nagar Kirtan” in Ludhiana

In view of the 550th Parkash Purab of Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, a nagar kirtan had started from Delhi, that would culminate at Gurudwara Shri Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan). This Nagar Kirtan passed through district Ludhiana today and thousands of devotees attended this Nagar Kirtan.

While speaking to media persons on the occasion, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu stated that devotees paid their obeisance in front of the Paliki Sahib, that is to be installed at Gurudwara Shri Kartarpur Sahib (Pakistan).

He informed that this Nagar Kirtan entered the district from Khanna, and passed through Libra, Bija, Gurudwara Manji Sahib Kotan, Doraha, Kanech, Sahnewal, Khakat, Sherpur Chowk, Dholewal Chowk, Partap Chowk, Gill Chowk, Dugri Road, before reaching Gurudwara Shaheedan near Gujjarkhan Campus, Model Town, here, where it halted for night.

He informed that the Nagar Kirtan started for further journey from Gurudwara Shaheedan near Gujjarkhan Campus, Model Town, here at around 10:30 am and passed through Gulati Chowk, Khamba Chowk, Baba Deep Singh Gurudwara Chowk, Deep Hospital, Preet Palace, Gill Chowk, Vishwakarma Chowk, Jagraon Bridge cut, old Jail Road, Gurudwara Kalgidhar Sahib, Subhani Building, Railway Station, Clock Tower, Salem Tabri, Jalandhar Byepass Chowk, Ladhowal Byepass, before leaving for Phillaur.

A contingent of Punjab Police gave guard of honour at the start as well as departure of the Nagar Kirtan.

Councillor Mrs Mamta Ashu attended the Nagar Kirtan on behalf of Cabinet Minister Mr Bharat Bhushan Ashu. Mrs Mamta Ashu, Mayor Mr Balkar Singh Sandhu, Mr Pritpal Singh Pali from Gurudwara Dukhniwaran Sahib, Mohd Usman Ludhianvi on behalf of Shahi Imam Ludhiana, were also honoured by Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) President Mr Paramjit Singh Sarna, Shiromani Akali Dal (Delhi) General Secretary Mr Harvinder Singh Sarna, Senior Congress leaders Mr Jaswinder Singh Baliawal and National Coordinator All India Congress Committee Mr Pritpal Singh Baliawal.

Prominent among those present at the start of Nagar Kirtan in the city included Punjab Medium Industries Development Board Mr Amarjit Singh Tikka, former minister Mr Malkit Singh Dakha, Commissioner of Police Mr Rakesh Kumar Agrawal, former vice chancellor Guru Nanak Dev University Dr SP Singh, former president Punjabi Sahit Akademi Prof Gurbhajan Singh Gill, PPCC Secretary Mr Kulwant Singh Sidhu, District Congress Committee (Urban) President Mr Ashwani Sharma, Dr Amarjit Singh Dua, SDM Mr Amrinder Singh Malhi, DCP (Traffic) Mr Sukhpal Singh Brar, ACP Mr Gurdev Singh, besides several others.
