550 Scholars from across the world to participate in International Seminar on 550th Parkash Purb: Harsimrat Badal

The Union ministry of Culture will organize an international seminar on the life and teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji at Delhi by inviting 550 scholars from across the world besides holding hundred seminars to mark the 550th Parkash Purb of Guru Sahib across the country.

Disclosing this, union food processing industries minister Harsimrat Kaur Badal said officials of IGNCA, Ministry of Culture had briefed her during a meeting in Delhi today that besides the international seminar and seminars across the country, IGNCA will organize 50 vehicle mounted digital exhibitions at various places.

She said it had also been decided to publish 15 to 20 books on the life as well as teachings of Sri Guru Nanak Dev ji in different languages.

Mrs Badal said other projects were also afoot to celebrate the 550th anniversary in a befitting way. She said a Chair in the name of Guru Nanak Dev ji would be set up at Canada. She said a similarly the Ministry of Human Resource Development had given approval to establish a Chair in Guru Sahab’s name in the United Kingdom.

Speaking about the proposal for establishing a Centre for Inter Faith Studies at the Guru Nanak Dev University in Amritsar, Mrs Badal said it had been decided to provide funds for the same to the University in a phased manner.

She said the University had made an Rs 442 crore project for establishing the Inter Faith Studies project and that it had submitted an Rs 99 crore proposal to the University Grants Commission as the first phase of the project. She said the GND University had also submitted a proposal for an international seminar at Amritsar.
