400th Parkash Purab: Nagar Kirtan to start on March 20; to culminate at Anandpur Sahib after passing through Punjab, Haryana & Delhi

To mark the 400th Prakash Purab (birth anniversary) of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, the ninth Guru, the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee (SGPC) will organize a grand Nagar Kirtan on Saturday, March 20, from Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal, the birthplace of Guru Ji.

The nagar kirtan will begin with Khalsai Jaho-Jalal (Khalsa awe-inspiring appearance).

SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur visited Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal and reviewed the arrangements. Meanwhile, while paying obeisance at Gurdwara Sahib, Granthi Singh bestowed upon her the Siropao (robe of honour)

Jagir KaurDisclosing this here on Friday, SGPC president Bibi Jagir Kaur said that grand events are being organised by the Shiromani Gurdwara Parbandhak Committee dedicated to the 400th birth anniversary of Guru Tegh Bahadur Sahib, in collaboration with the sangat.

“A grand nagar kirtan is being organized from Sri Amritsar Sahib to Delhi, which will be completed after returning from Delhi to Sri Anandpur Sahib. The nagar kirtan would start tomorrow on March 20 from Gurdwara Guru Ke Mahal at 8.30 am. Under the auspices of Sri Guru Granth Sahib Ji and the leadership of Panj Piaras, the nagar kirtan will proceed from the various shrines associated with the ninth Guru to the next place.

This nagar kirtan will cross through Punjab, Haryana and Delhi and then from Delhi to Sri Anandpur Sahib and create awareness and inspiration in the sangat on the occasion of the 400th birth anniversary of the ninth Guru”, said Bibi Jagir Kaur.

Bibi Jagir Kaur said that various events related to the 400th birth anniversary of Prakash Purab have also been planned, starting from Gurdwara Sri Baba Bakala Sahib. She said Gurmat Samagam will be held at Sri Anandpur Sahib from March 24 to March 28.

After this the function will be held at Takht Sri Damdama Sahib and the main function will be held on May 1 at Sri Amritsar.

She said that prior to the main function, various functions would be held at Amritsar throughout the week and the entire city would be enlightened.

Bibi Jagir Kaur appealed to the sangat to participate more in the ceremonies dedicated to the historic birth anniversary of Guru Sahib.

Kulwant Singh Mannan, S. Baldev Singh Kaimpur, SGPC secretary Mahinder Singh Ahli, additional secretary Sukhdev Singh Bhurakohna, S. Partap Singh, S. Sukhminder Singh, assistant secretary S. Tejinder Singh Padda, S. Simarjeet Singh, S. Balwinder Singh Kahlwan, S. Sulakhan Singh Bhangali, manager Sri Darbar Sahib S. Gurinder Singh Mathrewal, OSD Dr Sukhbir Singh, and others were present.
